Abstract
(一)香蕉粉介殼虫為本省南部香蕉之重要害虫，因其羣集寄生於香蕉植株及果實各部，吸食養液為害，致引起香蕉植株生長衰弱，果實質劣量少，又有該虫之香蕉果實，不論在產地檢驗或港口檢驗時，如有發現均被剔出，禁止出口，故影響外匯收入至鉅。
(二)本分所為繼續探求香蕉粉介殼虫之有效防治法，特於民國48年9月起至49年7月止，在香蕉粉介殼虫猖獗為害地區之屏東縣林邊鄉，以經室內試驗後選擇效果較優之大利農、賽文、克氯殺、馬拉松及蠅敵死等五種藥劑為殺虫劑，並以地特靈及阿特靈等二種藥劑為防蟻劑，進行田間防治試驗。更於49年8月，為明瞭殺虫劑對於果實發生藥害情形，復於林邊鄉另行設區試驗。
1.Banana mealybug (Dysmicoccus brevipes Cockerell) is the most injurious insect pest to banana especially in the southern part of Taiwan. A number of them are always living in flocks by sucking the juice with their tube-like mouths, on almost all parts of the banana plant, such as pseudostem, roots near to ground surface, leaves and fruit parts. The weaknesses of growing plants and the poornesses of both quality and quantity of fruits are often caused by them. Since the banana fruits are strictly prohibited from exportation at the appearance of mealybug, so the influence in reducing the income of foreign exxhange is very serious.
