Abstract
The objectives of this research were to study the genetic characteristics of the R mutable alleles, R**, r-m55, and r** that affect soybean seed coat color and the expression of the anthocyanin biosynthetic genes, phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL), chalcone synthase (CHS), and dihydroflavonol reductase (DFR) during seed coat development using near isogenic lines.
