Abstract
2003年4月花蓮縣瑞穗及玉里地區放山雞養禽場畜主抱怨雞隻皮膚有丘疹症狀，兩場發生率皆約70%（5600/8000隻：10500/15000隻），在皮膚上有直徑0-5 mm的黃白色火山口樣丘疹，且多分佈於雞體的腹側、體側、翼下及雙腿皮膚上，雖未造成雞隻死亡，卻嚴重影響雞隻上市之屠體經濟價值，畜主懷疑為馬立克疫苗免疫不全所造成的皮膚型馬立克病。剖檢內臟並無特殊病變，經農委會家畜衛生試驗所檢驗為馬立克病陰性。將丘疹病灶皮膚剪下，置於解剖顯微鏡下，可見每個丘疹病灶中央約有0-8隻，數量不等的恙蟎幼蟲，以口器吸附於丘疹病灶中央，經蟎蜱學者鑑定為雞雛恙蟎Neoschongastia gallinarum（Hatori）。據1936年Sugimoto記載，此蟎過去曾在新竹縣、桃園縣、臺北縣市、宜蘭縣、花蓮縣及臺東縣的雞隻身上採得，並引起家禽恙蟲感染症（Avian trombidiosis），惟已數十年未被報導。本文報導新近發生之病例，供養雞業者和獸醫人員參考，期能及早察覺並做適當的診斷與防範。
The poultry farmers in Zuesuei and Yuli of Hualien County complained many papules on chicken skin in April, 2003. Chickens of the two farms had approximately 70%, 5600/8000 and 10500/15000, of chickens been infested. Volcano-shaped papule of up to 5 mm in diameter and light yellow in color were found on chicken skin, located mostly on ventral side, lateral side, under side of the wings, and legs. No death of any chicken was reported, however the market value reduced greatly. Farmers suspected it was resulted from Marek's disease. Necropsy of infested chickens did not find any gross lesion of Marek's disease. Inspection of Animal Health Research Institute showed a negative reaction to Marek's disease. Cut off the papule, 0-8 mites were observed in the center of the papule under binocular dissect microscope. The mite was identified into a chigger mite, Neoschongastia gallinarum ( Hatori ). It had been reported from Taipei County, Taipei City, Taoyuan County, Hsinchu County, llan County, and Hualien County on Chickens which caused avian trombidiosis in 1936 by Sugimoto.
