Abstract
The red flesh yam line, 70R16, was originated from Chia-Yi, Taiwan, and was introduced to TARI in 1981. After a series of selection and adaptive comparation including acclimatization, observation, and preliminary, advanced, 70R16 line was proved and recommended to be a better yam line than the other red flesh lines. The mean tuber yield of 70R16 line was 23.02 t/ha, higher than the yield of the other red flesh lines. The 70R16 line possessed a lot of superior characteristics such as high nutrition value in the flesh, high viscosity, and more resistant against to anthracnose etc. Experimental results showed that 70R16 line had wide adaptability, high and stable yield potential.
