Proceedings of the Symposium on the Strategy for the Improvement of Rice Production
Incessantly increasing the grain quality of rice produced in the Taiwan areas is one of the most important strategies of rice policy in relation to production and sale. Through the guidance and planning made from the government and the cooperation and end eavor devoted from rice research units, the grain quality of the newly bred cultivars were increased in the past decade, however, the large room for improving rice grain quality is still being had. The article presents the works for the genetic studies of rice grain quality we have conducted, criticizes the grain quality of rice cultivars we have bred, and therefore, offers some recommendations I have had for pondering to meet the needs of the demands of incessantly increasing the grain quality of rice.
