Abstract:
Forty five rice varieties/lines were tested in the second crop of 1979 and 29 varieti es/lines were tested in the second crop of 1980 for their responses to tarsonemid mite. Seven varieties, i. e., Taichung sen 229, Chianung sen 11, Chianung sen yu 13, Kaohsi
ung S. 1, Toyonishiki, Todorokiwase and Mutsunishiki were considered resistant to the infection of mites. There was a negative correlation between the percentage of filled grain and mite population per plant. Positive correlations were observed between mite population and the percentage of hull browning, sheath browning and the degree of twi sted panicle axis.
