Species of Amaranthus mangostanus L. (or A. tricolor L.) is a popular vegetable crop cultivated year-round in Taiwan. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of different waterlogging durations on plant growth and water content. The potted experiments were repeated 6 times with waterlogging durations from 0 (CK) to 10 days. Results indicated that fresh and dry weights of leaves，stem and aboveground plant parts were decreased with increasing days of waterlogging. Plant height, leaf area and relative water contents of leaves and aboveground plant parts were also reduced by increased days of waterlogging. It showed that fresh weight was positively correlated with relative water content in leaves, stem, and aboveground plant parts. Results suggest that waterlogging treatments inhibit plant growth and induce drying effect to plant parts with the negative impacts on the underlying mechanisms.
