四川之三化螟蟲

Abstract

This report is based upon the observations of ecology and experiments of preventive measures of paddy borer, Scho3nobiies inceutulas walker in Chenglu and her Vicinity, Szechuan China, during 1936-1943. Results of this study is given in below. There are 3 species of rice borers, Which attacking rice plant, namely paddy borer Schoenobius inceylulas walker, rice stem borer Chilo suppresalis WaLker and noctuid borer Sesamia inferens Walker. Among them over 80% concerns with the paddy borer. It has 3 generations a year, its life history is exactly fitting the cultivating period of the plant. Since the double cultivating system of rice has been established in South Szechuall, it appears 4 generations annually.
