The citrus germplasm collection in Taiwan were re-established after. The World WarII1nTARI, where the former collections of Dr. T. Tanaka were lost during and post war period. With the help from the government, institutions, colleges and universities staffs and personels both domestically or abroad, TARI began to establish citrus collection plot in the open. field at CAES, TARI around the 1947 to 1951. But most of the collections were infected by several virus diseases recently. By using STG method to clean up the materials and reestablished the citrus germplasm collection in screen- houses. Beside, with the aids from UCR, DPI of Florida, USDA ARS Orlando, DPI of Phillipines and citrus scientists in Japan, Panama, Indone-sin, Thailand and other countries, TARI have collected many seeds and virus-free materials from these countries and also domestically. Most of these collections were kept under screen with some duplications were grown in the open field for evaluation. There are 16 species with 90 more cultivars kept in TARI and 18 species with 100 more cultivars collected in CARS, TARI, which can be used as inter-institutional exchange materials.
